Ohio St.

My pick this year to win it all isn't a difficult choice at all. The obvious choice is the Ohio St. Buckeyes. They are a complete team and could make a deep run. With the vast improvements from Kraft and Sullinger, the three's from Diebler they are a complete team.
This year, the final games will be played in Houston TX. Obiously, playing closer to home gives you an advantage. So I expect Texas and all teams around the area to do well this year. Hook'em Horns!
Last night, Marquette pulled off the unbelieveable. They bet Syracuse on a neutral court. Now, being a Marquette fan myself, I would like to congrajulate the bunch on pulling off a second upset. We are Marquette!

The One Seeds

Duke: Perrenials in the final four. With huge depth, a returning point guard, and Nolan SMith firing on a;ll cylanders; Duke looks poised to return to the finals

Ohio St: Jared Sullinger. Enough said. In my opinion he is easily the player of the year. If his teamates put up decent numbers they could go deep in the tournement.

Pitt:Coming from the best league in the Big East, Pitt has the expierence in tough games to make it far this year

Kansas: If Kansas starts playing in the post with the Morris twins, they would be nearly unbeatable. If the two don't show up, they could be in trouble.

Upset alert!

This year the field is realitivley weak as compared to years previous but i still have some quality upsets that could happen in the first round
1. marquette over Xavier (I'm a homer what can i say)
2. Richmond over Vanderbilt (Vandy is always an early exit, dont be surprised if the spiders knock em out)
3. Gonzaga over St. Johns (St. Johns lost some key players in their last game gonzaga could capitalize)
4. Morehead St. over UL (I really like this morehead St. team with one of the best post players in fareed they could pull of the biggest upset of the year)
5. Kansas St. over Utah St. ( I understand that K-state is a 5-seed here but the media seems to think Utah st. will pull it off. expect a hard fought game and a win for Kansas State)

New play in games

This year the NCAA added three more teams to the tournament. In doing so they expanded the field to 66 teams from the previous 63 teams. By doing so they have created three more "play-in" games where if you win your in. This year there are two playins between the four worst teams and two play-ins by the last four at large bids or bids that didn't win their conference. The league expanded the league so more teams could get the opportunity to play.

Who got left out

Unfortunately, this year the seeding was uncharacteristically terrible. For starters, the committee somehow allowed the Colorado buffaloes and the Alabama crimson tide. First, the Colorado buffaloes had a very strong season with quality wins coming against 4 seed Texas and two wins over 5 seed Kansas St, for most teams this would be more than enough to solidify a spot. the one blemish on an otherwise outstanding season was they didn't have the best non-conference wins, a major player on selection Sunday.Alabama has practically the exact same story as Colorado but hey have slightly less convincing wins. Either way, one or both of these teams should have gotten in over and underwhelming UAB team.

FIRST!!!!

Hi and welcome to the blog, March madness center. This blog will be entirely devoted to conversations about the buzz leading up to, the games during, and after math of the NCAA men's basketball tournament. I welcome anyone and everyone to leave a comment and start some great discussions. As a side note, you may have noticed by the background i am a Marquette fan, but i try not to let that affect my picks. Thanks
